“Apple’s Product Lineup: Opportunities for New Screen Sizes”

Apple may soon release a 15-inch MacBook Air, according to recent reports. The MacBook Air is the best-selling Mac, and the availability of only one size is a missed opportunity. Although there are upsell opportunities for those wanting a larger display, the current leap from $1,200 to $2,000 may be too much for customers who do not require the power or performance of a MacBook Pro. The screen size is a significant differentiator in many of Apple’s other product lines, and there are many other Apple products where another screen size might make a big difference.

In the past, Apple offered its lightest notebook in two sizes, including the 11-inch model that was discontinued in 2019, and the 12-inch MacBook that was discontinued the same year. Currently, the smallest Mac laptop available is the 13-inch Air, which is still larger and heavier than both of those discontinued models. A smaller, lighter laptop has many advantages, and with the benefits that Apple silicon has brought to its current Macs, it would be impressive to see what it could do for a smaller, lighter notebook.

The iMac line has also suffered from casualties. Rather than offering both 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions as it once did, the iMac has been consolidated into a single 24-inch model. However, some people prefer a larger screen for more windows or to work with large images or put two documents side-by-side. Currently, the only solution is to buy a standalone Mac desktop like a mini or a Mac Studio and pair it with an external display. If you choose Apple’s Studio Display, it’s not only not cheap but also lacks the elegance of the iMac’s all-in-one package.

Apple should make a smaller iPhone for those who prefer compact and lightweight devices. The iPhone 12 and 13 mini models were part of the “vanilla” iPhone 12 and 13 lines, making it difficult for customers to choose between a compact phone or one with the best camera and features. Apple should bring a smaller screen to the iPhone Pro line because every time users use the larger phone, they wonder why they are doing it.

In conclusion, Apple’s product lineups could benefit from offering more screen sizes to cater to different customer preferences.
